John qualified as a solicitor in the 1990s and has always specialised in personal financial law matters, working for some of the leading legal and accountancy firms in the UK and where he became a senior solicitor and head of the Court of Protection team. His specialist experience of the Court of Protection dates back to the old receivership rules which were in force before the current deputyship rules. Throughout his career, John has specialised in financial investments, Wills and estate planning, trusts and capital taxes – areas of great importance to our deputyship and trusteeship clients. He has a great passion for helping vulnerable clients to safeguard their finances and welfare and enjoys promoting best legal practice in this area of law.
John works hard at maintaining his close professional links with a large number of UK-wide case managers, financial advisors and other Court of Protection involved professionals. He is a member of several vocational associations, including COPPA; is a Dementia Friends Champion, and a member and avid supporter of other deputyship associated organisations – as well as having formerly held a trusteeship with a national UK charity. Currently, he is involved with a Community Interest Company in his local community supporting and being heavily with grassroots issues at community level.
Keen to demonstrate that he practices what he preaches about getting personal finances into order, John has a current Power of Attorney and up-to-date Will about which he proudly addresses to others whenever he gets the opportunity. Away from the office, John is a family man with a passion for extreme sports and wasting time either in Portugal or pottering around his garage.
