Tony Broadley

Tony is Head of the Family and Child Care Department across the firm. Having a passion for the law, Tony has worked both as a practising barrister and as a solicitor. Having an excellent reputation as a childcare specialist, Tony has over 30 years’ experience in family matters. He is an Accredited Member of the Law Society’s Children Panel and a committee member of the Manchester based Charity, Child Concern.

In his legal aid practice, Tony and his specialist team, represent parents, grandparents and the children (on the instruction of the child’s appointed Guardian) in Care and Supervision Proceedings issued by Local Authorities where a child is considered to be at risk by social workers. Tony has taken instructions directly from children when they are considered mature enough by the Court to be separately represented in proceedings relating to them. Tony can advise on any aspect of Child Law, including Child Arrangements Orders (formerly Residence and Contact) Specific Issues, Prohibited Steps Orders, Special Guardianship Orders, Wardship and Adoption.

Diane Cogan

Diane is an Associate within our Family team. She has developed an excellent reputation as a specialist childcare solicitor, having worked with leading experts in this specialist area of practice. She regularly represents parents, grandparents, extended family members and children (on instruction by the child’s guardian) in care and supervision proceedings, advising on a range of issues where the Local Authority have issued proceedings to safeguard a child.

Diane advises family members and foster carers on Special Guardianship Orders, and individuals and couples seeking to adopt a child. She also advises on complex issues where a child has been made a Ward of Court and in Private Law Children Act Proceedings, involving disputes between parents on Child Arrangement Orders, Specific Issue and Prohibited Steps Orders. In addition, Diane has experience of conducting cases having a foreign jurisdictional element.
