Surgeon struck off by GMC
The General Medical Council (GMC) has concluded a disciplinary panel hearing into misconduct charges against a Polish doctor and his conduct at Birmingham’s Selly Oak Hospital and London’s Whipps Cross University Hospital.
The Panel Chairman said, “The surgeon’s misconduct represents serious and repeated failures to uphold the proper standards of conduct and behaviour expected of a registered medical practitioner”, “he has shown a disregard of the regulatory process and his misconduct brings the profession into disrepute”.
The Panel heard incidences of colleagues complaining that the surgeon was ‘too cavalier’ with a patient, engaging in heated arguments with co-workers, throwing surgical instruments on the ground and storming out of a surgical theatre and a police caution which the surgeon received for displaying threatening behaviour whilst drunk at Stansted Airport.
