Megan regularly deals with volatile circumstances and has a client base with varied cultural backgrounds. She also has clients with profound disabilities and significantly reduced life expectancy. She has complex cases where liability has been compromised, substantially reducing settlement of their multi-million pound personal injury claim.
Megan acts for a number of lay deputies and has dealt with a number of cases where there have been challenges to existing deputyships and attorneyships due to allegations of wrongdoing and fraud and involving multi-million pound disputes.
With a background in personal injury litigation, Megan has a strong focus on claims in litigation, assisting both internal and external litigation solicitors with issues relating to capacity and the issue of how the Court of Protection (and the Court determining the personal injury claim) approach how an award of damages for personal injury is to be held and administered and the terms and effects and the costs of the options between a deputyship and personal injury trust.
Megan has helped and empowered Court of Protection clients in many walks of their life and builds trust and rapport with clients, their families, therapists and their support network.
Megan is a member of the Court of Protection Practitioners’ Association (CoPPA) and volunteers at brain-injury related charity events and supports charities in their profile and fund raising.
