PTSD and brain injury common amongst returning troops
Troops returning from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan are at risk of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Dr. Gregory O’Shanick, National Medical Director for the Brain Injury Association of America has commented "Fundamentally, PTSD is a disorder where you remember too much, whereas TBI is a disorder where you don't remember enough".
PTSD is a psychological disorder where individuals will experience reoccurring memories of events or have strong emotions or behavioural symptoms. TBI is a physical injury to the brain, which causes memory loss and physical symptoms such as headaches and dizziness.
Linder Myers have experience in handling both forms of cases. The Psychological Injury department has managed numerous military cases of PTSD and were heavily involved in the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Group Action against the MoD since 2002/2003.
The Clinical Negligence department deals with clients with traumatic brain injury, and can help individuals pursue compensation claims.
