Pre-marital agreements

A pre-marital agreement, or a pre-nuptial agreement as it is also called, is a contract entered into by a couple prior to marriage. It attempts to deal with how their assets will be divided, in the event of their separation or divorce.

Although these pre-marital agreements are not binding under English Law, the courts are increasingly taking them into account on divorce and attaching weight to them where the terms are seen to be reasonable.

Why choose Linder Myers?

Being in love, engaged and getting married, it may not sound very rational to you to think about a breakdown and the possible consequences.

Nevertheless, our family solicitors find it is often beneficial for you to receive advice on the relevance of pre-marital agreements and the possibility of protecting assets that you have acquired before marriage.

Our team can offer you information and legal advice, as well drafting an appropriate agreement if that is how you decide to proceed.
