Patients are not at the centre of NHS care
The Chief Executive of the Patients Association has stated “Patients are not at the centre of NHS care if they are given inadequate or confusing information about their condition”.
The above outlines an area that significantly needs to improve if the Department of Health is to meet its pledge of “No decision about me, without me”.
A Care Quality Commission Survey shows that some aspects of basic hospital care had improved since 2009, but insisted there was still more to be done.
The Survey found that 17% of patients do not think their doctor knew enough about their medical history, including 5% who said the doctor knew ‘little’ or ‘nothing’.
We have a specialist clinical and medical negligence team who have undertaken numerous successful claims for patients involved in the negligent provision of care by their General Practitioner or NHS professional.
