Entertainment, music and noise
The provision of “entertainment” is particularly broad and it covers a lot of aspects. The basic rule is if you are providing entertainment to an audience who are there for that particular purpose then you may be required to obtain a license. Examples of this include live music, the playing of recorded music, showing boxing or wrestling entertainment.
If you are a restaurant, B&B, Hotel Owner, a cafe, takeaway, pub, club or any premises hoping to put on live music then you may be participating in a “licensable activity”.
Once you have obtained a license you will need regular advice of the impact of any newly introduced licensing laws or for administrative purposes like a change of management or any reviews.
The application for a Personal License is made to the Local Authority in which the person lives, rather than to the Local Authority in which the premises are situated.
