Review of contracts of employment
A contract of employment is a legally binding document that provides a clear set of terms and conditions under which an employee is employed. It gives the employer far greater control over specific terms such as:
- notice periods
- the right to deduct overpayments from wages
- the ability to require employees to undergo medical examinations should they go on long term sick
- garden leave provisions
- imposing restrictive covenants
Having a contract of employment also reduces the risk of disputes arising with employees as to their exact terms and conditions.
How can Linder Myers help?
Employment legislation is constantly changing and so it is difficult for organisations to stay up to date and compliant.
You have a legal obligation to provide all employees with a statement of their main terms and conditions within two months of their start date. Failure to do this could lead to a penalty of between two and four weeks’ pay, as well as the cost of defending the claim at an Employment Tribunal.
Linder Myers will review your contracts of employment to ensure that you are compliant with current employment legislation.
If you do not have a contract of employment, we can help you by drafting one, specifically tailored to your needs.
Why choose Linder Myers?
Our employment team consists of fully qualified solicitors who specialise in all aspects of employment law. We can work with you to ensure that you are not only employment law compliant but also include clauses specific to your organisation.
