Bus passengers involved in accidents
If you are a passenger on a bus which is involved in an accident and you suffer injury you may be entitled to bring a claim for personal injury.
A bus driver and the bus company have a duty of care to its passengers. If the bus is involved in an accident with another vehicle or if the bus driver is driving negligently which causes him to brake suddenly or a collision occurs, this can cause injury to its passengers.
If you are involved in an accident as a passenger on a bus, please ensure the following:-
- Ask the bus driver to log down the accident and that you were injured;
- Keep a record of the bus number and journey;
- Make a note of where the accident occurred;
- Keep hold of your bus ticket from your journey;
- Attend at your GP or the hospital.
As a result of the accident, you can claim compensation for your injuries, which will cover loss of earnings, help with pain and suffering and cover any medical costs.
